Controlled Crying - Statement
A member of a leading parenting website has recommended that Contentedbaby.com is a website that advises the use of Controlled Crying with 3-week-old babies. We would like to confirm that this statement is totally incorrect.
Nowhere in Gina's book or on this website does she say that controlled crying should be used with young babies of three weeks old. She advises that as a last resort controlled crying could be used with older babies, who no longer need feeding in the night, but who have developed the wrong sleep associations, and whose sleeping problems are affecting the health of the baby and the mother. She also advises that before commencing sleep training parents should have their baby checked by a GP to ensure there are no medical reasons why sleep training should not be used.
